Pictures from the last year

Ok so I was wrong. I am doing more than one posting to try to catch up so here are some of the pictures from the last year. I hope you all enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed taking them.

She was a southern Belle for Halloween. She looked great!

He was superman and let me tell you sprating his hair black was the worst idea ever!

Carving pumpkins I have pictures of the final product somewhere just not sure where right at this time!

The family spending time at the zoo

Aurora's gymnastics class at Baloon Fiesta

Aurora is in the pink jacket it was a very very cold October Morning

For those of you who have never seen or heard of Balloon Fiesta here are only a very few of the balloons. These were some of the special shapes.

The bumblebees are my favorite. I dont know if it because they totally rock the breast cancer ribbon or if they are just cute.

Leif discovered the joy of picture taking.

Aurora and I right before the parade started. For the amount of time that we spent waiting for it to start it was not worth it.

This Last year has been so busy!

Hello to all my friends and family who follow this blog. I am very sorry that I have not been able to post anything since our vacation last July. I thought to myself what would be better, one very long post or several shorter posts? I decided I would rather post one long post than to post several smaller ones.

To catch you up on our lives, things have been going well for us. My wonderful husband went back to school and has declared his major as nursing. Although I changed my major three times before I finally stayed with interpreting. I personally think that although he has the skill to be able to be a great nurse I dont think that he has the patience to deal with adult patients. He just recently spoke with a friend of ours who is a respiratory therapist and he may consider changing to a degree in education.

Several people have recommended that he become an elementary teacher. He is great with kids and has such a wonderful child-like quality. I think he has a great personality that really helps when it comes to relating to children. He has been volunteering at Aurora's school and is room dad for her class. Mrs Hernandez, Aurora's teacher, said that when he comes to class all of the kids are bouncing off the walls they have so much fun when he shows up.

Aurora has also been doing great. I cannot believe that she is seven years old. It feels like she was just born yesterday. Last October she performed at Balloon Fiesta. For those of you who do not know what Balloon Fiesta is, this is a international event, it is the most photographed event in the world. Hot air balloons come in from all over the world for this week long event. It includes many different venues including the special shapes, ballon glow, and a race. The winner usually wins a large amount of money; it is great fun. Aurora's gymnastics class performed on the main stage at ballon fiesta after the special shapes. Even though my husband hates it the kids and I personally love to go and we drag him along every year.

Aurora also marched in the state fair parade with her gymnastics class. This was the fastest parade I have ever seen. Normally when a parade goes by it walks for a little bit and pauses so that the people in the parade can perform. This parade walked the entire way and never stopped once. My husband was in charge of the camera and we forgot to make sure the batteries were charged so I was only able to take a few pictures with my phone :(

Just recently we had a parent teacher conference with Aurora's teacher and I could not have been more proud. Her teacher said Aurora has a tendancy to be a slow starter when it comes to getting to work. Mrs. Hernandez has learned that with Aurora it is best to just let her take her time because she is the kind of person that really thinks outside the box. Just recently she gave the students a symmetry assignment for which there was half of a picture and the students had to draw the other half in themselves. She said that she noticed that Aurora was not starting but instead was watching all of the other students sit and struggle with their pictures as they would draw and erase and draw and erase. Aurora then folded the piece of paper in half walked over to the window and traced her picture perfectly and then handed it in. She said the whole class watched in jealously and then asked if they could do the same. Then she discussed recommending Aurora to the gifted program next year.

Little Leif has been a handful! I love him so much he is such a mama's boy. In fact even if Daddy asks him," who loves you?" his response will be "mommy" Daddy loves to ask him whose child are you? His response to this is also "Mommy" even though Daddy is the person who stays home with him most of the time while I am at work.

Leif is learning to potty train right now and let me tell you it has not been easy. The first few times we would go he would scream at us and tell us NO! Then we tried the cheerio trick, where the little boys try to aim at the cheerios but he lost interest in trying to aim to hit them. Leif has a great imagination so he would throw in the cheerios and say lets pretend they are dragons. He would try to pee on the dragons then he lost interest in that. Now he loves to show off so his favorite thing is "come and see me be a big boy."

Leif loves to draw and he loves dinosaurs. He is constantly asking if we will draw the outline of a dinosaur so that he can color it. I would just like to say thank god for the internet because there are a lot of great free coloring pages that I can print out because I am not a great artist. Although for a three year old he is doing much better than Aurora ever was. At three Aurora was just scribbling on papers with no real picture. Leif on the other hand draws faces and rainbows and animals. He will even draw whole scenes and will tell you this is my friend Dianni and we were riding bikes....

We also have a new puppy. She is just the most adorable little puppy and when I come home she runs up to me and licks my face and jumps all over me. She came from my cousin Jaycelyn who named her Zooey but it is supposed to be pronounced Zoe. She is a shitzu and my good friend Nancy said that she looks like a rag mop. When we first got her my huge pitbull/boxer mix named Lucy ran from her. Now when I wake up in the morning I find the two of them cuddling together on our giant bean bag.

I have been working so much lately and the good thing about that is that we will be able to have a family vacation in July and we will be going to California. I am so excited I cant wait to see all my friends!
